Meet the Founder
Corey Person, As a former University of Michigan basketball player and professional athlete, I’ve had the privilege of playing in the G-League and overseas. Throughout my journey in competitive sports, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the importance of both physical and mental wellness. My experiences on and off the court have taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and balance—lessons I now strive to share with others. Through Pursuit of Excellence, my mission is to mentor and empower underserved communities, providing them with the opportunities, resources, and guidance they deserve to build a brighter future.
Community Outreach coordinator
Donte Hudson, a Kalamazoo native, is very passionate about the youth in his community. Donte attended Kalamazoo Public Schools k-12, and graduated with honors from Kalamazoo Central before attending Michigan State. After graduating from MSU, Donte came back home and immediately started to impact his community as a mentor in KPS elementary schools, as well as a basketball coach at his alma mater, Kalamazoo Central high school. From that work Donte was able to land a role with The Kalamazoo Promise, promoting education and helping provide wrap around services for students.
The passion that Donte has for the youth in the Kalamazoo area led him to help create Persuit of Excellence.
